Paramount Skydance Plans to Eliminate Nearly 2,000 American Positions – Update

Skydance Paramount will start mass layoffs beginning on 27 October, removing approximately 2,000 US jobs under a expense reduction strategy totaling $2bn overseen by new chief executive David Ellison.

The workforce reduction come after the merger of Skydance Media and Paramount Global, completed in August worth $8.4bn.

More global layoffs are expected, with the company intending to reveal full details during its third quarter earnings report on 10 November.

Previous updates stated the company planned to cut between 2,000 and 3,000 roles by the beginning of next month.

Until December 2024, the company retained about 18,600 workers on full-time and part-time contracts along with 3,500 temporary project employees.

The company has not provided a response regarding the report.
